The actress who played a passenger stuck on a planet that was not hers as an element of the film of 2000 "Pitch Black", was also asked to perform auditions in the sci-fi series which was set to premiere in Australia. While the producers of the show were planning to employ an American actress, the casting agent believed that she was the perfect choice for the role. Black produced a recording which was later sent to Sydney to audition for and got the role of Aeryn Sun on "Farscape." She played the character with strength and toughness but she also had a close sexual connection with fellow co-star Ben Browder who played human astronaut John Crichton. The show grew in popularity, Aeryn developed into a fascinating and highly watchable role model, and the actress gained thousands of followers. The show's end was a blessing for her. Black was cast in one season on Stargate SG-1 as Vala Doran. The actress was working on voiceovers for television as well as videogames and films. The role was a regular one in "The Originals" , Black returned to TV in the series drama "Containment" She is a stunning brunette capable of projecting both the strength and elegance of her atmosphere, Australian actress Claudia Black was a hit with fans due to her starring role with Aeryn Sun as a commando pilot who was trained to keep her feelings within control in "Farscape" (Sci-Fi channel between 1999 and 2003). Black, a Sydney native won the Globe Shakespeare Competition in 1990 and has toured Europe for her part as Portia in the play "The Merchant of Venice."
